How to apply for your UK provisional driving licence

If you want to begin your driving lessons with you are firstly going to need to apply for a UK provisional driving licence, you can choose to apply online or by post. Here are the detailed steps for both methods:

Applying Online

  1. Eligibility: You must be at least 15 years and 9 months old, able to read a number plate from 20 meters away, and have permission to live in Great Britain for at least 185 days.
  2. Required Documents: Have an identity document (like your passport) and addresses where you’ve lived for the last 3 years.
  3. Cost: The fee is Β£34, payable by MasterCard, Visa, Electron, or Delta debit or credit card.
  4. Application Process: Complete the application on the DVLA website. You might also be asked for additional information like your National Insurance number.
  5. Confirmation and Delivery: You’ll receive a confirmation email from DVLA, and your licence should arrive within one week, although it may take longer if additional checks are needed.
